Consumers: New law another protection tool to identify reliable contractors
Beginning July 1, 2009, Pennsylvanians have an new method to ensure they hire a reputable contractor. The new Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act requires all home improvement contractors that work in Pennsylvania to be registered with the state's Attorney General's office. Consumers can check to see if a specific contractor is registered by visit the AG's HIC search page at http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/hicsearch/.

NAHB provides web site with information for homeowners about new law
First-time homebuyers can find a wealth of information at a new site established by NAHB. About 10,000 visitors visit the site, www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com, each day. It provides easy-to-use information about the tax credit - up to $7,500 - for homes purchased April 10, 2008 through July 1, 2009.
