Professional Women in Building (PWB)

Mission Statement

The PWB Council is the voice of women in the building industry, dedicated to promoting industry professionalism and supporting our members at the local, state and national levels by offering networking and educational opportunities, legislative awareness and outreach, and professional and personal development.  

Vision

The PWB Council is the premier professional organization that provides strategies and solutions for professional women in the building industry. Through our various publications, awards, scholarships, seminars and programs, we provide women in the building industry the professional advantage necessary to excel and succeed. Our members also receive well-deserved recognition for their contribution made to the home building industry and home ownership.  

Purpose and Goals

  • Encourage career development within the industry
  • Promote and support active involvement in the political and legislative process
  • Promote and support community involvement
  • Provide professional development resources
  • Provide recognition of member industry achievement
  • Provide resource information and support for our members, affiliated councils and NAHB members.

2016 Officers

Chair - Cathy Sloan, HBA of Berks County
Cathy Sloan CGR, CAPS, CGP is the Office Manager for Aluminum Associates/Sloan Corporation. She has been a member of the HBA of Berks County for 10 years. She served as President in 2013 and is currently Vice President. Cathy also participates in several other committees, like the HBA Restoring Hope Foundation and the Membership Committee. She is also active within PBA, where she first participated in the PWB. Now, she sits on the NAHB PWB Board of Trustees. Cathy is married and has 4 children and 6 grandchildren. She graduated from Muhlenberg High School in Temple, PA and from Reading Muhlenberg Career &Technology Center.


Vice Chair - Dottie Fawcett, HBA of Bucks & Montgomery Counties
Dottie is currently the Executive Vice President of the HBA of Bucks & Montgomery Counties. On top of presiding over all of the association's day-to-day functionalities, Dottie is also in charge of membership recruitment and retainment, the organization's committees and councils, and planning all association events and activities. Dottie's local is one of the few that has a PWB chapter. She also participates with the state and national PWB councils.  



Secretary - Kim Gartner, HBA of Bucks & Montgomery Counties
Kim is the Vice President of Prime Custom Builders, LLC. She started at Prime in 2012 as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way up the ladder. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, including (but not limited to) land development, project management and finances. She is the current President (Chair) of the PWB for Bucks/Mont, where she also served as Vice President (Chair) and Treasurer the prior 2 years. She was recently added to the Board of Directors for the HBA of Bucks/Mont Counties.

 

 


Past Chair - Cindy Cepko, Wayne Pike BIA
Cindy Cepko, CGP, CMP, MIRM, Master CSP, co-owner of Granite Homes Inc. in Paupack, Pa., was recently sworn in as the 2016 chair of the NAHB Professional Women in Building Council. In addition to her role at Granite Homes, Cepko also manages long-term and vacation rental properties in the Lake Wallenpaupack area of the Pocono Mountains. Cepko joined the NAHB PWB Council in 2009 and has served as an Area Trustee, Area Trustee chair and Regional Trustee. She has served as the PBA PWB chair and was the 2015 chair of PBA’s membership committee.
