The uncertainties and reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic have been problematic and difficult to say the least. Working from home, having to deal with child care issues, children home for extended periods due to school closings, social distancing, and critical jobs and businesses being shut down are just some of the problems we are all facing in dealing with the spread of this virus. Many close friends, still in the construction industry are calling me (anecdotally) to complain about having to haphazardly shut their jobsites down due to orders from their respective Governors. For individuals with nefarious motives in mind, an abandoned jobsite might be too tempting a target to resist. Many of you know our Fire Service Relations Manager Ray O’Brocki and our efforts to prevent construction and jobsite fires https://constructionfiresafety.org/ However, with the COVID-19 virus in full swing and getting worse by the day, we at the AWC along with one of our Construction Fire Safety Coalition members, Chris Towski from the Cambridge, Massachusetts Fire Department, have teamed up to do a webinar (information below) on how best to demobilize construction sites safely utilizing NFPA 241.
