The PBA Summer Board Meeting was a huge success this year and we would like to thank the people who made it possible. The auction, ball game, seminar, and presentations were some of the weekend’s biggest highlights. PBA welcomed its new President-elect, Kert Sloan, and PBA Government Affairs approved several initiatives around pending pieces of legislation, including House Bill 409 (the “RAC Fix” bill).
Over $30,000 Raised for PaCAH
Members of the PBA were busy over the three-day conference. Designer bags, sports tickets, and gift certificates were sold to the highest bidders, raising $1,145 for PaCAH. Contributions of over $1,900 were raised in conjunction with the PaCAH VIP Night at the Ballpark and a big thank you to the local associations who presented PaCAH checks on the board floor – a total of over $19,000. That’s a total of over $22,000 raised for PaCAH over the weekend!!
Affordable Housing Summer Seminar
Members gathered Friday afternoon for a seminar entitled “Using Mixed Income and Mixed Use Development to Support Local Community Revitalization." The discussion included a panel of housing practitioners and funders about their involvement in mixed income and mixed use projects as part of an overall community revitalization strategy. Panelists included Christian Recovery Aftercare Ministry, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, and seminar sponsor Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.
Associates Council Project: Camp Victory
The PBA Associates Council's next building support project takes place at Camp Victory, a 125-acre facility in Millville, PA for children with special needs and their families. Several sections of the camp are in need of repairs, remodeling, and maintenance. Through a partnership with Penn College Construction Association, the PBA Associates Council will raise initial start-up funds through a GoFundMe campaign and then begin the work projects in late-2017.
Another huge thank you to our partners EK McConkey, and BDX for networking with our members and assisting them with questions over the weekend. We appreciate you sharing your time with us.
